When Peoria Mayor Robert G. Day revoked Harold Parker’s liquor license, he moved, effectively, to put the club out of business.
The club could remain open while Parker appealed the case to the state liquor commission — which he soon did, with successful results in the short-term.
Though the club had been a gathering spot for any and all kinds of people in Peoria, it was much less beloved by the Mayor and his reform-minded administration, which pursued further means to shut down the club.
